The appearance of «FRONT» project in May, 2004 became really a signed event to admirers of electronic music in Novosibirsk. Pavel Popov, the founder of «FRONT» project & Novosibirsk musician & sound producer is known not only for his works in electronic music but also for his participation in activitity of many rock bands.
Thousands of discs of the 1st album «FRONT» - «Second breath» was bought up very quickly & without any promotion & some more copies were put on the market almost at once.
Novosibirsk occupies a special place at the musical stage of Russia. It’s a city that is hard to astonish at performances of Russian & world much talked of projects. Concerts of «Scorpions», «A-ha», Patriñia Kaas, Deep Purple became almost unnoticeable & didn’t even generated considerable public excitement. It gathered less then half of 7 thousand people area & became a failure to its organizers.
Such is the reality of show business in Siberia!
The appearance of disc was an incitement for young Siberian performers of that trend. Some new compositions of trance music could be heard in popular program «Locomotive» on «Europa Plus» & some favorable comments were received.
New albums in the west are getting ready for release for several months. But «FRONT» is an extremely prolific project. Up to 100 tracks are released every year & the majority of them become hits.
Two more albums appeared at trance music market: «Antenna» (May, 2005) presented hard trance sound & «Wide open heavens» (September, 2005) presented marked romantic sound of dream-dance. This shows the variety & uncommonness of that project.
The best DJs of fashionable Novosibirsk night clubs brought music of «FRONT» to the hot rotation. To judge from what even inexperienced people say this music gives people something that they are lack of nowadays – isolation of routine, stepping aside the problems, hope for the best. The most important thing is that it gives the possibility of flight.
One more layer of «FRONT» is remix. Play lists of Russian & Western DJs were enriched with such masterpieces as Depeche Mode, Armin van Buuren, Gosti iz buduschego, Russky razmer remixes. Those works were appreciated by Armind, Mute records producer centre & participants & producers of Blank & Jones project.
All works were well released in the USA, Europe & Australia. The official foreign representative & distributor of the 1st album « FRONT» was Blue dove records company. It produced the 1st vinyl project «Megalion» with tracks & remixes from the 1st album.
The 1st combined album of young performers of electronic music «FROZEN SOUNDZ» was performed at the 1st Siberian Trance Label «Hot sound records» in February 2006. The absence of promotional support didn’t prevent its realization.
Pavel Popov, the spiritual leader of «FRONT», is sure that this album will be a success. Every track is made with feeling & it surely will find its audience.
One more trance project «Wild Palms» was created by «FRONT» & its co-workers in April 2006. It’s only getting speed at the world of melodic trance.
In May 2006 Pavel Popov reanimated his old project «ZOOM» & it was a success! A producer centre «Macro Vision Records» released for sale new series of trance & author’s albums under the name «RUSSIAN TRANCE FORCE». The 1st disc of that series was author’s album ZOOM «Way back». The aim of that series was to present some absolutely new product of high quality at Russian dance music market. «RUSSIAN TRANCE FORCE» is a reflection of up-to-date musical tendencies, a new level of Russian dance music, compilations that no doubt will be loved by its admirers.
The 1st «ZOOM» albums were made in new age & ambient style & gradually were transformed into Trance. The peculiarity of these tracks is its special melodiousness that goes with high grade sound.
The unique feature of that project is that it creates full illusion of immersion into sound - some magic world full of feeling of flight & different emotions. It’s some kind of virtual reality. You don’t need much energy to enter & at the same time ZOOM is a source of energy itself.
And a new step to the top of success. In June an American dance label «Tone 1 Music» released «FRONT» with its best compositions in the USA, including the joint track of FRONT & famous American singer Mon a Q – Feel the love. That track became a real sensation & a surprise to Pavel Popov & his American friends. That composition was number 2 on the USA & Canada dance chart, leaving such musical monsters of musical world as Depeche mode & Madonna behind.
Russian company Gaijin Entertainment produced a game «Adrenaline 2: Rush Hour» in autumn 2006. The peculiar feature is soundtrack to the game – more than 8 hours of different kinds of music that was chosen carefully & even specially written. Every player can choose whatever he likes. If you don’t like rap then listen Rock music. Don’t like Rock, then Trance for you! Here again you can listen 49 tracks of «FRONT» project.
So one can say confidently that Siberian trance is FRONT & FRONT is a Siberian trance. To be continued…
